Jerry, Two of the methods I have found to be pretty effective with the kayak is trolling, especially in lakes I may not be familiar with, the other is to drift using small spinner baits, and jigging them.

Trolling is something, I honestly often forget to do. I don't consciously "rig" for it either. Still, there's no reason NOT to troll "something" while moving from place to place - you never know what great thing might happen.
