Hi, have been in the kayaking business/industry for 30 years...the SOTs and other hybrids have really helped advance the generic term "kayak"...effectively anything that floats and uses a double paddle is called a kayak these days. I prefer to regard the enclosed deck with cockpit opening a "kayak" and all other boats a knock-off extension that uses the popularity of the name and the paddle to call itself a "kayak"...This does NOT mean that these are not cool boats, etc.,etc. but I don't really see these things as "Kayaks"..If I use a regular beaver tail paddle with my SOT does that make the SOT a hybrid "canoe?
That being said, these are some cool designs that take the traditional idea to new heights. Thanks for introducing those particular models to us...
