  Allergies and insect bites

I had the honour of being stung by about 10-15 yellow jackets while painting an eve of my house. I was standing on the top of the safety rail with a brush and scraper and could not defend myself.
When I had reached ground my neighbour had already cut open a large onion and told me to apply it to the stings. She insisted that I do it and when I had the swelling immediately stopped and receded. She told me this was an old cureall and I began to apply it to mosquito bites, infections, deerfly, horseflies and found that it immediately worked. I understand garlic( a cousin to onion) is just as effective.
I always take an onion or garlic either whole or dried with me camping and always get the same reaction as my neighbour when I insist my friends try it.
happy paddlin'
