Peanut/sugar butter vs the rrreal stuff
Posted by: old_user on Jan-24-07 11:54 AM (EST)
Do the recipes use standard commercial peanut/sugar butter, or the "natural" stuff, which is just crushed peanuts and maybe salt? I ask because there's enough sugar (or sugar equivalents) in standard commercial peanut butter (like Skippy) to significantly change the taste of the dish.
Besides, the natural stuff is about 100x tastier and better for you... IMHO, of course. Apart from the lack of refined sugar, natural PB is not hydrogenated, which makes it way healthier. In fact, I love the natural stuff and don't particularly like the standard peanut/sugar butter.
Worried about oil separation? Well, it's kinda fun to stir it a bit each day. Also store the jar upside (and tightly closed, of course) down so that any oil does not rise to the top.
