wax melter Posted by: ssnvet637 on Jan-03-07 7:46 AM (EST)
Hi Paddlers, After years of making around 30 dozen of these fire starters every summer, I found a used crock pot at a yard sale. They should be very inexpensive as new ones sell for around $10-$15 nowdays. The one I use doesn't have a removable crock but that doesn't matter as I don't clean it anyway. Just let the excess wax solidify in the crock and it is ready for the next time you make fire starters! An old soup ladel makes it easy to pour the wax on the egg carton. Jon
Awesome idea! I doubt the wax can get hot enough to flame up, but plenty hot to pour and saturate into sawdust or whatever...Great tip, thanks!
