  Squat Exercise Question for Tony

Hi Tony,

Enjoyed your article. I attend a "resistance training" class once a week where squats are often part of our program. It is emphasized by our instructor to keep the knees over the ankles and not let them get in front of the knees. This makes the butt really stick out in back, like you are "squatting in the woods." Your knees are really extended out in front of your knees. Could you comment on this part of your technique please?

I agree with you, Ann. I have been a squatter for about 20 years now as an instructor and lifter. You are right. Keep the knees directly over the toes.
