DIY Kayak Camera Case Cradle New Topic Printer Friendly Version

Attaching a pelican case to your deck.

In order to attach my pelican case to my deck, In the flanges that come down the back of the case, I drilled two small holes through them. These are thick flanges and it doesn't affect the structural integrity of the pelican. I ran some cord through the holes, tying a knot on each side so that the cord doesn't slip through the holes. There's enough excess cord that I can tie the pelican case down to the deck lines of my kayak.

To keep the front of my pelican case strapped down, I run some webbing through the handle (I do tie it to the handle) and then tie the ends to the deck lines on both sides.

This attaches my pelican case to my deck simply and if the boat flips accidently - my pelican case won't float away. And I can still open the case, as none of the lines interfere with the lid.

While the PVC platform looks like a neater solution, I'd worry about the case floating away if it wasn't tethered.
