Upper Falls Landing is a natural landing at the Upper Falls of Coal River that provides the necessary watercraft portage around the historic Upper Falls Dam and Upper Falls Lock. The landing actually consists of a man-made landing upstream of the Upper Falls and the natural landing downstream. This location is on the Walhonde Water Trail along the Coal River.
Launch site has parking, picnic shelter, playground & walking trail. 5 to 12 mile flat water floats with one class I/riffle area at Lower Falls. 5 mile take out is immediately upstream, river left of lower falls area. Launch site is sand with fairly easy access.
