Could be used as a put in, take-out, or portage point for Red Bank Creek. Creek runs nominally 28mi from New Bethlehem to Allegheny River with limited access after this point. Access is to carry from a small parking area down a steep rocky bank. Rated 2/5 because it is not a dedicated paddling access and has a fair portage (approx 200ft) and steep rocky banks, but is a public recreation area.

Moderately sized dam is prominent, with warning signs to keep out of water 100ft downstream and 200ft upstream. Access to downstream of dam is steep and rocky. Alligator snapping turtle spotted in the water immediately below dam.
