Though Mariner Point Park is an extremely enjoyable place to explore, launching and recovery is a bit of an issue. First, it is a 100 yard portage to the launch site plus you have to traverse downhill and over railroad ties the last 50 ft. Not a very friendly launch. There is a lot of powerboat traffic but it is a no wake zone until you get out of the creek.
Great spot. Yak tip*** Paddle 50 ft from kayak launch and find the cut over. (it is across from public fishing area)You will need to lift your yak up on land and drag about 25 yds. It is worth the paddling you cut off and rough water in mouth of river. This allows you get over to calm water and hit the water trails faster.
Kayak launch site is a joke. Worst I have seen.

Good spot for paddling. Park is quiet most of the time. Water is the Gunpowder River which flows into the Chesapeake Bay. You can go out as far as you want, Power boats can be a problem on weekends.
