The Adel Island Park Access is located below the dam and is the put-in site if you used the Municipal Park location as your take-out or beginning your paddle. A campground is located here to rest and relax. There is a nice sandy area to put-in to allow one to stay clear of the dam hydraulics. There is another option for those paddling the river from points above Adel. The Municipal Park and the Adel Island Park accesses may be avoided entirely if you stay to the left one mile upstream where the river diverts into two channels. An earthen dam has long ago been eradicated by past floods and allows a pleasant paddle around the east side of Adel. This channel reconnects to the main channel below the dam past Adel Island Park.
