This is a launch site onto Lake Natoma. Head east (left) for some mild upstream paddling (it gets swifter when releases are high from Folsom Dam)to the Folsom Prison "no trespassing" sign. Head west for the flat water paddling. About four miles up is Nimbus Dam. There are two bayou areas with numerous small islands and stillwater channels on this lake. One is across from Negro Bar, the other is more hidden. It is to the north of Nimbus Dam. When the water is low you may have to carry or walk your boat through a narrow channel to get to this one but it's worth it. The speed limit on the lake is 5 mph so you won't see much for motor boats except for small fishing boats. By Nimbus Dam is the California State University Aquatic Center so you will see some rowing crews on the lake.
