Grand Canyon/Colorado River "Street" View
If you've ever dreamed of racing down the rapids and floating through the Grand Canyon, Google has made it a lot easier.
The company announced recently that its mapping division has added to Google Street View a 286-mile stretch of the Colorado River, granting digital access to some of the Grand Canyon's premier sites, most of which can be reached only by boat. The addition is the first time Google Maps has used the Street View technology on a major whitewater river.
The project brings renewed attention to the wonder and beauty of the Grand Canyon, as well as the challenges facing the Colorado River's health.
