Location: Northwest ID into South WA/ North OR
Length: approx. 367 miles
Waterways: Clearwater, Snake and Columbia Rivers
A cross-section of the Inland Northwest on the Clearwater, Snake and Columbia Rivers includes 367 miles of the region's cultural and natural wonders.
The trail links the Clearwater River in Idaho, Snake River in Idaho and Washington, and Columbia River to Bonneville. The Northwest Discovery Water Trail Steering Committee has identified 163 launch, resting, portage, and camping areas on the 367 river miles on the Clearwater, Snake, and Columbia Rivers
A goal of the Northwest Discovery Water Trail is to provide camping opportunities every 10 miles along the rivers, and access and restroom facilities every 5 miles along the rivers. However, certain stretches of the water trail are, by nature, remote and inaccessible for facility improvements.
Click on this map of Northwest Discovery Water Trail to explore the recreational opportunities on each of the 9 segments ("reach") of the trail. On each reach map, you will see icons depicting public access points along the water trail. The sites are categorized as marinas, boat ramps, or hand-carried launch/landing sites.
