Test paddle solo approximate 3.0 mile up and down river in slow moving water. The best paddling position for the boat is kneeling with your thighs against the portage yoke; if you sit in the front seat backwards the canoe is not totally balanced. The canoe handles the current with ease, it was very maneuverable and stable, but difficult to keep on track. With good paddling technique you can get a little speed, but when you stop paddling the canoe slows down fast. The boat is high quality construction and appears to be durable. I would not recommend this canoe for the serious solo paddler, but it would be fine for paddling around a pond.
PROS: weight light for tandem, maneuverable, sweet spot when kneeling, secondary stability, dry, sturdy, quiet, good in moving water
CONS: weight heavy & wide for a solo canoe, primary stability, no glide, v-bottom not stable for launches & landings.
