Submitted: 12-24-2005 by scott Sold my Old Town 13' Sport Discovery (too heavy to car top by myself at 90 odd lbs.) & bought a 12' Pack canoe. Paddles fine single or tandem, my bride & I are both under 150 lbs. Better than a kayak for fishing - more room, less chance of gear going overboard, but just as light. I lowered the seat & added a stern anchor mount. A tethered, kayak paddle provides plenty of go. The Pack canoe’s light weight & foam blocks make cartopping a breeze, I’m on the water in no time. A milk carton fitted with cart wheels holds my gear. Buy 2 Pack canoes for the price of the Kevlar or ‘glass solo canoes and have some money left for accessories...
