I got mine at Dick's Sporting Goods. This is my first kayak, but I had paddled a friend’s WS Pungo 14. The Monarch was very much what I was looking for in a first boat. Ample storage, bulkheads, and a design that should do well for slow rivers and lakes. The Monarch's initial stability was not as stable as the wider Pungo 140, but I expected that. It tracks very well, even better with the skeg dropped. The seat is very comfy, and I feel rock solid in the cockpit. I had issues with the skeg, lethal edges that I sanded down, and the bungie/rope was rigged incorrectly. Easy fixes. Dick's had marked it down, and I got an additional 10% off due to some scratches, at $557 out the door I feel like I stole it.
