Submitted: 07-08-2005 by CSWAKW Bought a poly Carolina 16 back in March (05). I'm 6'5" and about 260#, so fit was a big factor in buying this boat. I think the cockpit, seat, and thigh braces are pretty well sized for me, and I'm connected pretty well to the boat when paddling. Good speed for a boat of this width, tracks well, and turns pretty well with or without the rudder. I have been out ~10 times on flatwater, twice on the Yakima River (flat with Class I or so riffles) and self rescue practice, and the boat has worked well for me. Gripes are it's about an inch too wide, the plastic is a little on the soft side (lots of scratches), and when I did the self rescue, the bulkheads leaked. Given that there are not a whole lot of other options for people my size, I'm pretty happy with it. |
