Submitted: 03-30-2005 by tstar I like the Intrepid 16 a lot, because it strikes the right balance for my purposes. Its main advantage is that it can handle whitewater better than most recreational, tripping, or touring canoes, but still does a decent job for those purposes as well. It is rugged, and has very good initial stability and capacity. It can handle two big paddlers. The tradeoffs are that it's maybe 5 or 7 lb heavier than most Royalex canoes this size, and hull efficiency is compromised a bit, so it is not the best for paddling long distances quickly. These tradeoffs suit me very well. |
