I have just purchase a new Vela in Carbon/Kev. This is a great boat. It's like a sports car. Last week I was in a BCU assessment with 2 other paddles, both fitter than I and paddling NDK Romanys (a great boat also). The assessor asked us to sprint twice, both times I just pulled away. I did notice that in the bigger stuff it did slower than the big boats, but still no problem keeping up. This boat is extremely maneuverable, very responsive to edging, sweeping etc. The quality is excellent, great attention to detail. If you are looking for something in the 16' range this boat is a must to try. I am 5'8, 145# ENJOY! |
