This is our "family" and friends kayak. Very user friendly and perfect for camping near water etc. We've had the Cruiser II for two years now and just figured out were it shines the brightest! Rivers and running water. Calm waters are mundane for this kayak fore it seems kind of heavy and slower than the sleek needle kayaks. But on the American River with a rear mounted Dad (210 lbs) for power and the 7 yr old son in the middle, and the 10 yr old up front, this kayak tracked like a bird dog, cruised with perfect stablility and carried a ton of gear. No major rapids though, we easily skirted around the churning white stuff. With two able paddlers this kayak is realitively fast and stable enough to get in and out of the water when the heat is on too. I tossed the boy over the side and when he was cooled off, hauled him back in without spilling a soda, that's stable! Can't wait to try it in the ocean! |
