I've had my Guide 147 for just over a year. It is a great canoe for the money. The polylink 3 material gives a lustourous green shine to the hull and the workmanship on this canoe is tops. The boat handles quite well in all types of flatwater cruising from smooth as glass to monster boat chop and wind driven whitecaps. It's initial tippiness soon feels quite natural and it's secondary stability is unsurpassed. As a fishing rig it works great. There is enough distance between two anglers to avoid getting hooked when your partner casts and with the load capacity you can take everything including that third tacklebox. As a solo paddler it does fine, though a bit heavy at 74 lbs. to load onto a truck rack. Get a cart! Make sure you sit in the front seat backwards or your bow will be stuck up in the air like a sail. It tracks very well for a 15 ft. boat and with a double bladed paddle you can really cover some water. For a first canoe for the paddler on a budget you can't go wrong with the Guide 147.
