Riot deemed the superstar their all out all purpose machine to play, creek, and run the full river in style. With some practice this boat will do it (although if you weigh over 180lbs and are not an advanced kayaker do not attempt creekin'). This boat is a little edgy and the stern tends to grab a bit in some situations. It does surf great and with 64gal of volume (mostly in the bow) it will punch through the gnarliest hole with ease. The seat is the reason I did not rate this boat higher. Riot created this funky seat that can slide forwards or backwards by simply adjusting four straps. The idea was simply to trim your boat out for whatever type of paddling you planed on doing that day. Two problems that I found: 1)Outfitting the boat is difficult/impossible if you plan on moving the seat. Instead, I recommend picking where you like it and leaving it there permanantly. 2) The seat moves a little when you flip over. I think that this makes the roll a little more difficult, but with some practice...no problem. All in all I think that the superstar is a great boat for intermediate to advanced paddlers. Beginners may want to look for a boat that has softer lines. The edgyness can take the fun out of it for a beginner due to water in the lungs from swimming so much. If you are a beginner and already have this boat, hang in there and with some practice and some swimming you'll soon be a "superstar".
