I have owned this kayak for years now. I've never had a problem w/ tracking. I did buy a longer paddle right away. It has a V shape which makes it tippy. Beginners need a flat bottom boat but those are SLOW. Mine has kept up w/ the long skinny V boats w/ a keel just fine. This is nearly indestructible and cheap and will last over a decade. I have a seat cushion to toss on top. I paddle on day trips all the time down NH/ME rivers. Never flipped. Good kayak for a person w/ some sense of balance.
