For paddle makers, paddlers and those interested in the history and geography of paddles from 6000 B.C. to the present, this is a must-have. In addition to the cornucopia of designs, all measured (metric) for easy template making, the author has added a wealth of context from the cultures and their environments. Of interest, also, are two "consensus" paddles which result from best fit of all offsets, and a section on the evolution of designs. A great addition to my library along with his previous book on Canoe Paddles: A Complete Guide to Making Your Own. Format is about 6 by 8.25 inches, plastic encased covers, spiral bound, 200 pages, easy to pack, easy to read.
