My grandson, 17, and I took the Malibu XL out for 2 and 1/2 hours. It is moderately heavy, making it accelerate slowly, but maintains momentum well. It is very stable, and the seats are comfortable. It had auxiliary high back seats, but I do not lean back when paddling.
After he tired and got out, I spent 30 minutes solo. The performance was surprisingly good, though I would not want it to be my only solo boat.

Due to its weight I would rate it a 7 as a solo kayak and 9 as an all round double. My son-in-law's boat has showed no cracking. We used scupper plugs, and it was a dry ride. In waves or wind, you would get wet, but that is part of the fun. I am sure it can handle 2' waves, if not more.
