That said, I would not consider using this boat with a rudder as it is long and heavy, and does not turn well w/o it. I recently paddled it on a river trip 26 miles solo then two weeks later 23 miles with my 80lb niece. Both over-nighters, and I don't think I could ask for a more versatile boat. The ONLY downside is it's weight. I'm 34 and in pretty good shape, and it's all I can do to move this thing around on land. Loading it on an overhead rack alone is a serious undertaking and one which I feel I won't be capable of in a few years.
