Submitted: 03-16-2012 by Randy-Ensminger-MD I love my Thermette. It is and old design (World War 1) from New Zealand but is great. It will burn any combustible material to boil water and sterilize water. It is bulky but not heavy and you can cook on top of it while you are boiling water. When cooking on top of it your pot or pan is further from the flame and so you are less likely to scorch food. I use mine with a wood gas stove and there is almost no smoke produced. They are hard to find but well worth it if you can find one. Mine is cooper rather than aluminum which is much better.
