There is something about a well made wooden canoe that the synthetics lack. It's not faster, it's not more agile, it's definitely not lighter and it requires more maintenance yet there is something elegant, even luxurious about paddling in a wooden canoe (think Bentley vs. Beemer). I bought mine based on memories from adolescence and while not the most practical choice; with her forest green paint and brass keel guards she is a joy to see and to paddle. I expect that she will provide many years of happiness. |
