Submitted: 06-01-2000 by Ron Here's an update of my review from last year. For paddeling on bays, lakes, and smooth rivers the Pungo is a 10 for tracking, stability, and comfort. On shallow rivers with lots of rock and sand shoals its a 3, the hard bottom V gets hung up too easily and often. On class II rivers I'll give it a 8 as its pretty manuverable, but again beware the side chines as they hit the rocks below the waterline and give the boat a hard shift left or right. Great boat for open and deep water, but do not recommend if primary use is on rivers with lots of shallow shoals! |
