Everyone has pretty much covered everything I wanted to say, but I will add that I too experienced the hull bending in when strapping it to the top of my car. It does not seem to be a problem though because it returns to its original shape as soon as I release the straps. The owners manual suggests that if you do experience a hull deformity you can place it outside in the sun and it should regain its original shape.
