I bought a 2006. Looks great, especially to would be kayakers. Looks more expensive than it is. I am 6' 2" and had to take the foot peg tracks out of the boat. Too tight to get my legs down out of the way of the paddle. Why couldn't Hurricane design a longer cockpit? Just 3 more inches! The drain hole in the cockpit is better place in the new model. I keep a rubber ball in the drain hole anyway. Overall a good SOT. Not that fast, not that slow. Catches a lot of wind, but tracks fairly well into the wind. Make sure you paddle with a narrow bladed paddle to cut wind resistance. They claim it weighs 50 pounds, I bet it weighs at least 60. Really need two people to load it on the average SUV. Want to try it in the surf, but have not. I'll bet I will wish I had a rudder for surfing! |
