| Established in 1987, the club has over 250 members who mostly paddle sea kayaks on Lake Michigan for recreation. The CASKA newsletter has articles about equipment, techniques, environmental issues, "the politics of paddling" (legal issues and
water law) and safety. A calendar informs about social weekend paddling trips and conferences. Annual events include a New Year's Day paddle, spring picnic, summer sunset and moonlight paddles on Lake Michigan, fall doorslammer camping
trip, and Equinox and Solstice celebrations.
